News for District 19

Travel Documents for trans-border journeys

As a reminder, US Customs and Border Protection has new regulations regarding air travel between the USA and Canada.  You are now required to present a passport to enter the USA by air.  This regulation is for both US and Canadian citizens.  So, if you are heading to the NABC in St. Louis, be prepared!

There is a proposed regulation that would require passports for land and sea entry into the USA.  This could take effect as early as January 1, 2008.  It has not yet been enacted, but is likely to become law.

I highly recommend that players crossing the border for bridge tournaments obtain and use a passport.  I have found that it speeds the process and makes life easier for both yourself and for the border agents.  When you amortize the cost over the life of the passport, it really works out to be worth the investment.
